June is the perfect time to visit Victoria, B.C. because it’s not too hot and not too cold. The best part? There’s tons to do outside. For this month you’re in for a particular treat with food, festivals, and fireworks.

Victoria Indigenous Cultural Festival

From June 21 to 23, join Songhees and Esquimalt Nations in celebrating National Indigenous Day weekend. Don’t pass up the opportunity to try authentic cuisine and delight your taste buds with BBQ salmon burger, fry bread, and traditional clam chowder. Carvings, prints, jewelry and other unique creations from Indigenous artisans will be for sale on-site. Some artisans will also be hosting demonstrations to give you a chance to learn more about the creative process. The festival is completely free and a performance schedule for the Victoria Indigenous Cultural Festival is available online.

Victoria International JazzFest

Lovers of jazz, blues and world music should head to the heart of downtown Victoria from June 22 to July 1, 2018, for TD JazzFest. Local, Canadian and internationally acclaimed musicians will share the stage across a variety of venues for this ten-day music festival. Tickets are on sale now and ticket packages are available.

Sidney Days to celebrate Canada Day

If you want to avoid downtown Victoria’s busy streets during Canada Day, celebrate the nation’s birthday in the town of Sidney. From June 30 to July 2, Sidney hosts a four-day celebration with music, food, entertainment, traditions, a parade, and fireworks. Located by the shore, Sidney offers unparalleled views of the Gulf Islands, San Juan Islands and Mount Baker.

To make the most of the four-day celebration, consider staying nearby and cut down on travel time. Quality Inn Waddling Dog is located near Sidney and Victoria International Airport. In particular, Quality Inn Waddling Dog offers a nice change of scenery with its antique-style furnishings and is pet-friendly. The Inn is also 10 minutes away from Butchart Gardens, a must-visit attraction for anyone planning their trip to Victoria.

Fireworks every Saturday at Butchart Gardens

This must-visit attraction for your trip to Victoria just got better with a dazzling choreographed fireworks show designed to delight. If you can’t make Canada Day fireworks, there are fireworks every Saturday night at the world-renowned Butchart Gardens. The fireworks show began in 1977 and will run every Saturday night from June 30 to September 1, 2018. Each Saturday the fireworks will start at different times, so be sure to check times for Butchart Gardens’ fireworks show.

For your visit to Victoria, enjoy the weather by spending as much time as you can outside at any of these events! For all of those cozy nights in, check out our family fun rooms!
