So. Much. To. Do. In Victoria. The locals might disagree, sometimes. Surely, Victoria is more of a small-town feel, but there are countless things to do in Victoria over the summer. It’s warm enough to be at the beach every day, all the trees and wildlife are alive, and there is plenty of nature to explore. That aside, there are so many more outdoorsy celebrations going on, too! Take a look at these three, for example:
The Sidney Street Market, Vancouver Island’s (and Victoria’s) outdoor market features over 100 vendors selling things from local produce, baked goods, jewelry, cragst, and gifts. Though its only one night a week -- Thursdays -- from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM, there is sure to be plenty to do each time you come. With vendors and offerings changing each week, there will always be something new. The best part is that this market is completely free! Of course, deciding to purchase from a vendor is a completely different story. If any of this wasn’t enough to entice you then perhaps the live music each night will!
The Parksville Beach Festival starts on the glorious day of July 12, 2019 and concludes just over a month later on August 18, 2019. As you may have guessed from the name, the festival lays home in the Parksville Community Park! What will you find at the festival? Well, the showcase feature is The Quality Foods Sand Sculpting Competition and Exhibition that features the handiwork of Master Sand Scultpors. Many of these sculptors are also vying for an entry to qualify for the World Championship of Sand Sculpting. Come on the earliest days of the festival (July 12-14), to see these talented artists work their magic.
The summer is a great time for car enthusiasts to get our their wax and start polishing so they can make it out in time for all the car shows. For one, the Fords & Friends Car Show & Shine is one to be at. The Early Ford V8 Club #109 Victoria is hosting the 39th annual Show & Shine! Over 200 classic cars and trucks present and live presentation of awards, who could go wrong? Additionally, even the audience has a chance at winning through the 50/50 draw! This is a one day event on July 14, 2019 at the Saanich Historical Artifacts Society at Heritage Acres from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Admission is $5 for adults and anyone under 13 is allowed in for free!
